Stage Left, an innovative new play festival, brings the stories from the frontlines of progressive movements to center stage through six groundbreaking productions. Each play is paired with a community partner —REI Soho Union, Workers Justice Project, Releasing Aging People in Prison, and more—to catalyze conversation and create pathways to immediate, meaningful action. By bridging theater and organizing, Stage Left transforms performance into a site of solidarity, reflection, and resistance.
 
Supported by Working Theater, Broadway Advocacy Coalition, and the Murphy Institute and hosted by Playwrights Horizons, this new play festival explores the power of collective storytelling and redefine what it means for art to be in service of justice.

Lyrics from Lockdown
Production Manager

Lyrics from Lockdown is a groundbreaking multimedia production created by theater innovator Bryonn Bain. Exposing the unresolved contradictions between America’s prison system and its democratic ideals, this true story begins with Bain’s wrongful imprisonment while studying law at Harvard. Fusing hip hop, spoken word, R&B, calypso, and classical music, Lyrics tells a provocative story of racial profiling and wrongful incarceration in a nation imprisoning more people than any other in the world.

Lyrics has been shaped by a distinguished creative team including Harry and Gina Belafonte, Ron Simons, Rob Reiner, and Delroy Lindo. The production has played hundreds of performances including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2019), Lincoln Center (2024), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (2025), Carnegie Hall (2026) and proudly livestreams every performance into local prisons.

Arts in Action Festival

Running for two consecutive years, the Arts in Action Festival served as an opportunity for arts and advocacy to intersect in discussions of justice and equity. Sponsored by New World Stages and the Building for the Arts, the festival featured performances, workshops, panels, and activations to highlight the work of over 20 New York City-based arts and advocacy organizations.

Open Minds, Open Doors
Narrative Strategy Consultant

Open Minds, Open Doors was a series of ‘network and learn’ events for landlords and brokers to learn about opportunities for renting to people with a conviction or arrest in their past. The initiative, stewarded by the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice, aimed to change ‘hearts and minds’ so those who are turning their lives around can access the foundation of their success: housing.
